At this time, no state regulations for PFAS exist in West Virginia, but the EPA released its Draft Sewage Sludge Risk Assessment for Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctanoic Sulfonic Acid (PFOS) on January 14, 2025, with a request for comments. In February 2025, CTUB proactively hired Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories Environmental Testing, LLC to sample for PFAS in the Biosolids prior to land application. These results showed that PFAS levels were well below thresholds set by other states. Those results are below. CTUB will continue to monitor regulatory changes with regard to sewage sludge at the State and Federal level.
